Manchester Law Firms Have First Staff To Gain MASS Diploma

First Personal Injury staff earn new qualification of MASS and College of Law Diploma

Employees from two leading Manchester law firms looking to specialise in Personal Injury (PI) are the first to gain the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) practical PI Diploma accredited by The College of Law.

Tina Bateman, Gary Campbell and Gareth Unsworth from Donns LLP and Joanne Milne from Simpson Millar LLP are the first in the UK to achieve The MASS and College of Law Diploma in Accident Management and Personal Injury.

MASS Training launched the Diploma in April 2006. Designed to be both practical and interactive, the course uses case studies from beginning to end - from first client contact through to trial. The Diploma is split into six distinct modules over two years with training delivered by practising PI solicitors. This means that on completion of each module, delegates are able to apply their new or enhanced knowledge to their existing caseload. The course content is constantly reviewed so delegates are assured of the most up to date information possible.

Jenny Braunton, MASS Training Co-ordinator, comments: "We are delighted to have our first group of successful graduates and congratulate them all on their achievement. MASS is aware that there are thousands of employees working in the PI market who are not solicitors but are extremely important to the firms they work for. We felt that a recognised qualification would prove their expertise to clients and employers alike. The MASS and College of Law Diploma provides this and I am sure that many more fee earners will benefit from the course."

One of the successful delegates, Gareth Unsworth from Donns LLP, comments "Throughout the two years of study, the practical nature of the Diploma gave me the confidence to be more proactive and proficient with my day to day caseload. I really enjoyed the course and learnt a lot."

MASS Training is the training arm of the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS), established in 1991 to bring justice to the victims of road traffic accidents. The success of the Diploma has played a key role in the expansion of MASS Training, leading to the launch of a dedicated training website www.masstraining.org.uk.

MASS Training has been working with specialist legal marketing company Samson Consultingto develop the website and the MASS Training brand.
