Are You Looking to Specialise in Personal Injury Law?

If you are looking to specialise in personal injury law, then our legal training courses are the best place to start. Whatever stage you are at in your personal injury career, we get help you gain the knowledge and understanding needed to excel in this area of the law.

Getting started

When you qualify as a solicitor, you usually need to decide what area of law you are going to specialise in. If you have been a trainee at a full-service law firm then you may have a range of options to choose from. Others will already be working in a specialist personal injury law firm, and in fact may not be a trainee, but rather a paralegal or legal assistant.

Whatever the trajectory of your career path, if you have found yourself as a member of a PI team but you Are You Looking to Specialise in Personal Injury Law?are still new to the practice of personal injury law, we can help you.

A good place to start is our Diploma in Personal Injury, delivered in association with the University of Law. This offers a comprehensive introduction to the foundations of personal injury law. It involves six one-day courses spread out over the course of a year, and you will have coursework and a final assessment to complete.

The Diploma will take you through the life cycle of a claim, ensuring you have a solid understanding of each stage. Once you have finished, you will have the skills to run your own caseload. You can then continue your legal training with our webinars and law courses. We have a range of topics available, so you can work through them as required, plugging any gaps in your knowledge.

Moving into personal injury law

However, you might not be at the start of your legal career. Quite often, solicitors who are already practicing will decide to move into personal injury law from another legal field.

If this applies to you, then it might be that you are tired of your current specialism and would like a new challenge. Or it might be because your firm is looking to diversify and expand. This is common, and in particular professional negligence or clinical negligence firms will want to add personal injury claims to their repertoire.

Either way, you will quickly need to get up to scratch on personal injury law. This means that the Diploma in Personal Injury Law may not be suitable for you, as it takes place over the course of a year.

Instead, you might want to consider our Beginners Guide to Personal Injury Claims. You can then supplement your expertise with other law courses and webinars that we offer, helping you to become a personal injury specialist.
